Arrived home today from a long weekend based at The Down Inn with my husband and two children. Stayed in a family room which was big enough for the 4 of us. Rooms lovely and clean and freshly decorated. All the staff were very helpful and friendly. Food was also really good and very reasonably priced. Lovely base to explore the surrounding area.
The down inn has got to be the best carvery I have ever visited, everything was freshly cooked including proper roast potatoes and homemade giant Yorkshire puddings…. So tasty was all 3 cuts of meat, the only down fall was that I was too full for puds, oh well there’s always next time as me and my family will surely be visiting again soon. (Word of warning booking is essential as this place gets extremely busy)
We visited the Down Inn again for one of their December party nights and the food was exceptional, the staff were again very obliging, the disco was great and generally we had a fab time. We will again be booking for December 2015 as the evening is good and we have a girly night out which we all thoroughly enjoy
Our stay was for three nights. The room was pleasantly large and warm. Decor looked in good condition and the furniture was comfortable. Bathroom was a decent size. The food in the restaurant and at breakfast was excellent. Evening meals were large, well presented and tasty. The cooked breakfast choice was extensive and tasty too.
All the staff were friendly and delightful. It was a pleasure to stay here and would definitely recommend it.
My husband and I stayed for 2 nights whilst visiting some old haunts.
The country pub and hotel is lovely and cosy being rural and surrounded by fields and country lanes. Our room, number 5 was large and comfortable with tea and coffee making facilities. There was a walk in wardrobe with lots of space for clothes and luggage etc and had a extra foldup bed and bedding in it.The ensuite facilities were lovely and clean with plenty of hot water from the shower and bath. The room overlooked the side car parking are but also a field with cows in it. Free WiFi with a code in the room. Staff were very friendly and approachable. We wanted extra milk for the tea in the room and were given a big jug full. We also asked for directions to a place we couldn’t find and were given a printed map.
The cooked breakfast and carvery meal was so good and plentiful.
The location means you need a car to get about. We went to Bridgnorth and took the steam train and the funicular cable car which was a real treat.
Our words cannot do justice to describe the The Down Inn and surrounding are. We will certainly be back. Highly recommended.
